About Palos Heights, IL Dentist Richard Facko DDS

As a lifelong Palos Heights resident, Dr. Richard Facko DDS is excited to be practicing dentistry in his hometown. After graduating from Marist High School, Dr. Facko attended Indiana University in Bloomington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. After his time at IU, Dr. Richard Facko went on to the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

To further his dental training, Dr. Richard Facko decided to specialize in pediatric dentistry. He went through a two-year residency program at UIC, where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Oral Science. As part of Dr. Facko’s masters program, he had to conduct extensive research to write and defend his master’s thesis. The focus of his research was the effect of television exposure and advertising on the oral health of kids. During this time, Dr. Facko was also able to learn how to work well with kids and teach them dental concepts more efficiently.

Dr. Richard Facko is proud to be a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and a member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentists. One of the reasons Dr. Facko participates in all of these organizations is because he loves to continue his education and stay up to date with all of the latest dental research and cutting-edge technology.

Dentistry Services Provided in Palos Heights, IL

Preventive Care

One of the easiest ways to ensure your child’s teeth are healthy and comfortable is to focus on preventive care. Here at Palos Pediatric Dentistry, we offer preventive services including well-visits, cleanings, and even dental sealants.

Infant Oral Health

The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that children should visit the dentist before their first birthday. At your child’s first appointment, we will work with you and your child to teach you how to brush and floss those tiny teeth properly. We will also inspect your child’s teeth for signs of early childhood tooth decay, dental fluorosis, fractures, and any other dental health issues. Parents are encouraged to be in the room with their little one during this visit to make the child comfortable and to listen to what Dr. Facko has to say about their teeth.

Pediatric Restorative Dentistry

Children aren’t immune to dental problems like cavities, abscesses, and overcrowding. Dr. Facko can also help with restorative dentistry for children, including placing crowns and offering pediatric orthodontic treatment or space retainers.

Emergency Dental Care

At Palos Pediatric Dentistry, we offer emergency dental care. These services are crucial, since you never know when your child will get hurt. If your child has a traumatic tooth injury and you need them to be seen, contact our office as soon as possible to schedule an appointment and to learn about first-aid for dental emergencies.

These are just a few of the services offered at Palos Pediatric Dentistry. For more information about our services and to make an appointment for your child, contact us today.
